On this course you will be introduced to Louise’s work and her painting style. The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically. If the weather allows, students will be able to draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour before working on painting in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention.A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting. The group will assess everyone’s work on the second day.
Portrait Painting North Finchley
Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2 day workshop in the greater North Finchley area. This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it. On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail. A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
