Landscape Painting Courses Northbridge-Street
Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Northbridge-Street area are 2-day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. This course will introduce you to Louise’s work and painting style. The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. If the weather permits, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction can be done outside, and the painting can be done in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention. You will be able to look at a few of her sketchbooks and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration for your painting. The second day will provide an opportunity for the group to critique each other’s work.
Portrait Painting Northbridge-Street
Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2-day workshop in the greater Northbridge-Street area. The students will be introduced to the artist on this course, as well as his work and the philosophy behind his work. The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail. Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail. Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
