This course will introduce you to Louise’s work and painting style. You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely. If the weather allows, students will be able to draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour before working on painting in the studio. While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings. Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration. On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.
Portrait Painting Peartree Green
Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2 day workshop in the greater Peartree Green area. During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work. On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail. The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail. Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
