Our Beginner art classes are small and intimate (we aim to cap the capacity of the classes at 10 or 12) allowing you to receive all the direction you need from your tutor. Life Drawing Classes Pevensey
Our Life Drawing classes which we offer in the greater Pevensey area are proving to be a popular choice. The philosophy of our Art school is based on the belief that rigorous study in drawing is essential to all figurative work. The class entails drawing the life model in a range of different poses. The Life Drawing classes allow artists to explore their creativity and practice their draftmanship in a focused and supportive environment. Tutors will be there to give instruction and guidance. This programme will improve your skills, no matter your level of ability. Though there is tuition and direction, this class is a great opportunity to work on your drawing in a more social environment.
Landscape Painting Courses Pevensey
Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2-day workshop in the greater Pevensey area on Landscape Painting. Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course. The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio. These two days provide the perfect opportunity for students to create a few paintings, as Louise will be available to give guidance and individual tuition. Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration. The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Pevensey
We also offer a 2-day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Pevensey area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI. On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work. The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail. Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail. Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
