Landscape Painting Courses Pirbright Camp
Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Pirbright Camp area on Landscape Painting. On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style. You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely. Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio. While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings. A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting. The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Pirbright Camp
We also offer our Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Pirbright Camp area, a 2 day course led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work. The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail. On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail. Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course will end with a one on one critique of the student’s work.
