Beginners Art Classes Poling-Corner
Our art courses cater for a range of abilities – from beginner to professional artists. Whether you are just starting to paint, if you are thinking of taking up art as a hobby or if you want to improve your existing skills, our team of tutors will focus specifically on your needs. Our small, intimate Beginner art classes are capped at a maximum of 10 or 12 students so as to allow the students to benefit from all the direction they need from the tutors. Our Beginner art lessons involve not only individual work, but group work as well. By providing an introduction to fine art practice – including drawing and painting– the tutors will help students focus and critically reflect upon their work and painting. Life Drawing Classes Poling-Corner
A popular choice are the Life Drawing classes we run in the greater Poling-Corner area. Our belief that thorough study in drawing is essential to all figurative work is the foundation of our philosophy as an Art school. The class entails drawing the life model in a range of different poses. The Life Drawing classes allow artists to explore their creativity and practice their draftmanship in a focused and supportive environment. Tutors will be able to provide instruction and guidance. No matter what your level of ability is, this programme will develop your skills. Though there is tuition and direction, this class is a great opportunity to work on your drawing in a more social environment.
Landscape Painting Courses Poling-Corner
Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2-day workshop in the greater Poling-Corner area on Landscape Painting. Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course. There will be a focus on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention. Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration. On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.
Portrait Painting Poling-Corner
Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2-day course in the greater Poling-Corner area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work. The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail. On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail. Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
