Beginners Art Classes Quags-Corner
Our art courses are designed for a wide range of abilities from beginner to professional artists. Regardless of whether you are just beginning, having some fun or developing your artistic skills, our tutors will be able to work with you at your level. By aiming to ensure a maximum class size of 10 or 12, we are able to offer small, intimate Beginner art classes and a tutor on hand to give you the individual attention you need. Both individual and group work is involved in our Beginner art lessons. You will be able to share ideas with other students and focus on your individual needs with one to one time with your tutor.
Advanced Art Classes Quags-Corner
Our Advanced art courses in the greater Quags-Corner area are ideal for professional artists who are looking for more experience, depth or focus on the work they already create. All of our tutors are on hand to provide technical support to the students and, as practising artists, can give an insight into the industry as it stands now. On an Advanced art course you are bound to find yourself in a class of like-minded artists aiming to develop and define their work and challenge their skills and expand their knowledge. As working professionals, we understand that you have responsibilities outside the studio so finding the time to take part in a course may not be easy, which is why we have created timetables which can fit around your busy schedule.
Fine Art Courses Quags-Corner
For a broader overview of fine art, the New School of Art offers a Fine Art course in the greater Quags-Corner area. The tutors will provide an introduction to fine art practice, including drawing and painting, which will help the students focus on and effectively critique their artworks. This programme is led by working artists, so students can benefit from one to one discussions with professionals, as well as discussions and workshops with their peers. For the duration of the course, students will grow their skills and gain insight into how their course tutor works.
Life Drawing Classes Quags-Corner
Our Life Drawing classes which we offer in the greater Quags-Corner area are proving to be a popular choice. We believe rigorous instruction in drawing is vital for all figurative work and this belief underlies our philosophy as an Art school. The class entails drawing the life model in a range of different poses. The Life Drawing classes are a chance for artists to explore their creative side and develop their draftmanship in a supportive setting. Tutors will be there to give instruction and guidance. This programme is guaranteed to improve your skills, regardless of your level of ability. Although there is tuition and direction for all students, this class provides a chance to work on your drawing in a more social environment.
Landscape Painting Courses Quags-Corner
Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Quags-Corner area are 2-day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style. There will be an emphasis on understanding how to work quickly, dynamically and freely. Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio. As Louise will be on hand to give guidance, advice and individual tuition, it is the perfect opportunity for our students to create a number of artworks, and they are encouraged to do so. You will be able to look at a few of her sketchbooks and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration for your painting. On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.
Portrait Painting Quags-Corner
We also offer a 2-day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Quags-Corner area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI. During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work. On the first day, after a demonstration by Tim, you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which focus more on tone, colour and form than detail. The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail. Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
