Beginners Art Classes Selsey
Our art courses are designed for a wide range of abilities from beginner to professional artists. If you are new to painting, starting a new hobby or looking to develop an existing painting practice, our tutors will work with you at your current level. We aim to cap the capacity of our Beginner art classes at 10 or 12 so we can guarantee the classes are small and intimate, which allows our students to enjoy individual attention from the tutors. Our Beginner art lessons involve both individual and group work. You will be able to share ideas with other students and focus on your individual needs with one to one time with your tutor.
Advanced Art Classes Selsey
Our Advanced art courses in the greater Selsey area are perfect for those professional artists who are looking to gain more depth or experience or focus on the work they already create. All of our tutors are on hand to provide technical support to the students and, as practising artists, can give an insight into the industry as it stands now. On an Advanced art course you are bound to find yourself in a class of like-minded artists aiming to develop and define their work and challenge their skills and expand their knowledge. We understand that taking the time to do a course can be tricky, especially if you are a working professional, so we have developed timetables to suit your busy schedule.
Fine Art Courses Selsey
The New School of Art offers a Fine Art course in the greater Selsey area for a more general overview of fine art. By providing an introduction to fine art practice – including drawing and painting– the tutors will help students focus and critically reflect upon their work and painting. This programme is taught by professional artists allowing students to be involved in class workshops and discussions, as well as one to one tutorials. On the course students will gain insight into how their course tutor works and at the same time develop their own skills.
Life Drawing Classes Selsey
Another class we offer in the greater Selsey area are the Life Drawing classes, which are proving to be a popular choice. The philosophy of our Art school is based on the belief that rigorous study in drawing is essential to all figurative work. Taking part in the class means drawing the life model in a variety of poses. The Life Drawing classes allow artists to explore their creativity and practice their draftmanship in a focused and supportive environment. Guidance and instruction will be provided by the tutors. Regardless of your level of ability, this programme will help develop your skills. This class provides a valuable opportunity to focus on your drawing in a more social way, though there is also tuition and direction if needed.
Landscape Painting Courses Selsey
Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2-day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Selsey area. This course will introduce you to Louise’s work and painting style. The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. If the weather permits, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction can be done outside, and the painting can be done in the studio. As Louise will be on hand to give guidance, advice and individual tuition, it is the perfect opportunity for our students to create a number of artworks, and they are encouraged to do so. You will be able to look at a few of her sketchbooks and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration for your painting. On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting Selsey
Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2-day workshop in the greater Selsey area. During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work. The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail. On the second day students will create a large painting, again without adding detail. A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
