Art Courses Shoreham-Beach
Shoreham-Beach is an inspiring and diverse centre for the Arts. It is home to lots of established artists, but many up-and-coming creatives also find their way here. If you are considering taking an art course, Shoreham-Beach should be your first choice. The New School of Art presents courses led by well-established, highly regarded art historians and artists who will support and guide you through the course of your choice.
Beginners Art Classes Shoreham-Beach
Our art courses have been designed with artists of all levels in mind, from beginner to professional. If you have just started painting, are starting a new hobby or are thinking of developing your established painting practice, our tutors will work with you at your level. Our Beginner art classes are intentionally kept small and intimate by aiming to cap the class sizes at 10 or 12 to allow you to receive all the direction you need from your tutor. Both individual and group work is involved in our Beginner art lessons. You will be able to share ideas with other students and focus on your individual needs with one to one time with your tutor.
Advanced Art Classes Shoreham-Beach
Our Advanced art courses in the greater Shoreham-Beach area are perfect for those professional artists who are looking to gain more depth or experience or focus on the work they already create. All of our tutors are practising artists and so will be able to give technical support to our students as well as provide an insight into the current status of the industry. On an Advanced art course you are bound to find yourself in a class of like-minded artists aiming to develop and define their work and challenge their skills and expand their knowledge. We understand that as working professionals you have other responsibilities outside the studio and finding the time to take part in a course can be hard, so we have created timetables which can fit around your busy schedule.
Fine Art Courses Shoreham-Beach
If you are interested in a more general overview of Fine Art, the New School of Art offers a Fine Art course in the greater Shoreham-Beach area. By providing an introduction to fine art practice – including drawing and painting– the tutors will help students focus and critically reflect upon their work and painting. This programme is led by working artists, so students can benefit from one to one discussions with professionals, as well as discussions and workshops with their peers. Over the course, students will understand how their course tutor works and so develop their own skills.
Life Drawing Classes Shoreham-Beach
Another class we offer in the greater Shoreham-Beach area are the Life Drawing classes, which are proving to be a popular choice. We believe rigorous instruction in drawing is vital for all figurative work and this belief underlies our philosophy as an Art school. The class entails drawing the life model in a range of different poses. The Life Drawing classes are a chance for artists to explore their creative side and develop their draftmanship in a supportive setting. Guidance and instruction will be provided by the tutors. Regardless of your level of ability, this programme will help develop your skills. This class not only provides tuition and direction, but it is a good opportunity to focus on drawing in a more social setting.
Landscape Painting Courses Shoreham-Beach
Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2-day workshop in the greater Shoreham-Beach area on Landscape Painting. This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style. There will be a focus on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Provided there is good weather, students can draw outdoors as they work with pencil and watercolour, focusing on simplification and abstraction before they move indoors and paint in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention. You will be able to look at a few of her sketchbooks and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration for your painting. The second day will provide an opportunity for the group to critique each other’s work.
Portrait Painting Shoreham-Beach
Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2-day course in the greater Shoreham-Beach area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it. The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail. Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail. A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition. The course finishes with a one on one critique of the work the student has produced.
