Beginners Art Classes Slough-Green
Our art courses have been designed with artists of all levels in mind, from beginner to professional. If you are new to painting, starting a new hobby or looking to develop an existing painting practice, our tutors will work with you at your current level. Our Beginner art classes are small and intimate (we aim to cap the capacity of the classes at 10 or 12) allowing you to receive all the direction you need from your tutor. Our Beginner art lessons involve both individual and group work. Individual one to one time with your tutor will let you focus on your specific needs while you will also be given the opportunity to collaborate with other students.
Advanced Art Classes Slough-Green
For those professional artists who are looking to gain more experience or depth or concentrate on the art they have already produced, our Advanced art courses are just what you are looking for. All of our tutors are on hand to provide technical support to the students and, as practising artists, can give an insight into the industry as it stands now. In the Advanced art class you will be surrounded by like-minded artists who wish to define and develop their own practice and challenge their skills and knowledge. We understand that taking the time to do a course can be tricky, especially if you are a working professional, so we have developed timetables to suit your busy schedule.
Fine Art Courses Slough-Green
The New School of Art offers a Fine Art course in the greater Slough-Green area for a more general overview of fine art. The tutors provide an introduction to fine art practice, including drawing and painting, to assist students in focusing and critically reflecting on their work. As it is led by professional artists, this programme gives students the opportunity of benefitting from class discussions, workshops and one to one tutorials. On the course students will gain insight into how their course tutor works and at the same time develop their own skills.
Life Drawing Classes Slough-Green
Our Life Drawing classes which we offer in the greater Slough-Green area are proving to be a popular choice. We believe rigorous study in drawing is essential to all figurative work, and underpins our philosophy as an Art school. The class involves the life model being drawn in a number of poses. The Life Drawing classes are a chance for artists to practise their draftmanship and indulge their creativity in a supportive, focussed environment. Tutors will be available to give guidance and provide instruction. This programme is guaranteed to improve your skills, regardless of your level of ability. This class provides a valuable opportunity to focus on your drawing in a more social way, though there is also tuition and direction if needed.
Landscape Painting Courses Slough-Green
Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2-day workshop in the greater Slough-Green area on Landscape Painting. This course will introduce you to Louise’s work and painting style. The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically. If the weather permits, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction can be done outside, and the painting can be done in the studio. As Louise will be on hand to give guidance, advice and individual tuition, it is the perfect opportunity for our students to create a number of artworks, and they are encouraged to do so. Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting. On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.
Portrait Painting Slough-Green
We also offer a 2-day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Slough-Green area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI. This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it. The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail. Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail. In order to identify ways in which to create interest and tension in the work, students’ work will be discussed and their choices examined throughout this process. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
