Beginners Art Classes South Godstone
Our art courses cater for a range of abilities – from beginner to professional artists. Whether you are just starting to paint, if you are thinking of taking up art as a hobby or if you want to improve your existing skills, our team of tutors will focus specifically on your needs. We aim to cap the capacity of our Beginner art classes at 10 or 12 so we can guarantee the classes are small and intimate, which allows our students to enjoy individual attention from the tutors. Our Beginner art lessons involve both individual and group work. Individual one to one time with your tutor will let you focus on your specific needs while you will also be given the opportunity to collaborate with other students.
Advanced Art Classes South Godstone
Our Advanced art courses in the greater South Godstone area are perfect for those professional artists who are looking to gain more depth or experience or focus on the work they already create. All of our tutors are on hand to provide technical support to the students and, as practising artists, can give an insight into the industry as it stands now. On an Advanced art course you will be in a class of like minded artists, who have the same goal – to develop and define their own practice and challenge their existing skills and knowledge. We realise that as working professionals it can be hard to juggle your responsibilities and taking part in a course, so we have timetables which can accommodate your busy schedule.

Landscape Painting Courses South Godstone
Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater South Godstone area. On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style. There will be a focus on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Provided there is good weather, students can draw outdoors as they work with pencil and watercolour, focusing on simplification and abstraction before they move indoors and paint in the studio. These two days provide the perfect opportunity for students to create a few paintings, as Louise will be available to give guidance and individual tuition. Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration. The second day will give the group the chance to assess everyone’s work.
Portrait Painting South Godstone
We also offer our Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater South Godstone area, a 2 day course led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. On this course, students will get to know the artist and his work, as well as the philosophy behind his work. The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail. The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail. Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
