Beginners Art Classes Stonegate
Whether you are a beginner or a professional artist, we have an art course designed just for you. Regardless of whether you are just beginning, having some fun or developing your artistic skills, our tutors will be able to work with you at your level. Our Beginner art classes are small and intimate (we aim to cap the capacity of the classes at 10 or 12) allowing you to receive all the direction you need from your tutor. Landscape Painting Courses Stonegate
Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2-day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Stonegate area. On this course you will be introduced to Louise’s work and her painting style. The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio. While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings. A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting. The second day will provide an opportunity for the group to critique each other’s work.
Portrait Painting Stonegate
We also offer our Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Stonegate area, a 2-day course led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it. On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail. A large painting will be produced by the students on the second day – again, a work without detail. Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The student’s work will be assessed on a one to one basis at the end of the course.
