Art Courses Street-End
Street-End, inspiring and diverse, is a hub for the Arts. Many established artists call it home, while it is also the place to come to for emerging and aspiring artists. If you are considering taking an art course, Street-End should be your first choice. Highly regarded and well-established artists and art historians will lead you through the art course of your choice at The New School of Art.
Beginners Art Classes Street-End
Whether you are a beginner or a professional artist, we have an art course designed just for you. If you are looking to develop an existing skill, are starting a new hobby or are completely new to painting, our tutors will be able to support you at your individual level. Our Beginner art classes are intentionally kept small and intimate by aiming to cap the class sizes at 10 or 12 to allow you to receive all the direction you need from your tutor. Our Beginner art lessons involve both individual and group work. You will be given the chance to both to discuss your specific needs one on one with your tutor and to share ideas with other students.
Advanced Art Classes Street-End
Professional artists wanting to gain more experience or depth or focus on the work they already create will find our Advanced art courses in the greater Street-End area ideal. Our team of tutors are practising artists and will be available to provide an insight into the current industry and provide technical support to the students. In the Advanced art class you will be surrounded by like-minded artists who wish to define and develop their own practice and challenge their skills and knowledge. We realise that as working professionals it can be hard to juggle your responsibilities and taking part in a course, so we have timetables which can accommodate your busy schedule.
Fine Art Courses Street-End
Another course offered by the New School of Art is the Fine Art course in the greater Street-End area, which offers a broader overview of fine art. By presenting an introduction to fine art practice – including painting and drawing – our team of tutors will assist students in focusing on and developing a critical awareness of their work. This programme is taught by professional artists allowing students to be involved in class workshops and discussions, as well as one to one tutorials. During the course, students will develop their skills and gain insight into the way their course tutor works.
Life Drawing Classes Street-End
Another class we offer in the greater Street-End area are the Life Drawing classes, which are proving to be a popular choice. We believe rigorous study in drawing is essential to all figurative work, and underpins our philosophy as an Art school. The class entails drawing the life model in a range of different poses. The Life Drawing classes proivde an opportunity for artists to discover their creative side and practise their draftmanship in a focused, supportive environment. Guidance and instruction will be provided by the tutors. This programme will improve your skills, no matter your level of ability. Though there is tuition and direction, this class is a great opportunity to work on your drawing in a more social environment.
Landscape Painting Courses Street-End
Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Street-End area are 2-day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style. The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically. Provided there is good weather, students can draw outdoors as they work with pencil and watercolour, focusing on simplification and abstraction before they move indoors and paint in the studio. These two days provide the perfect opportunity for students to create a few paintings, as Louise will be available to give guidance and individual tuition. Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration. On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.
Portrait Painting Street-End
We also offer a 2-day Portrait Painting Masterclass in the greater Street-End area, led by Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, artist Tim Benson VPROI. During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it. Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour. On the second day students will create a large painting, again without adding detail. In order to identify ways in which to create interest and tension in the work, students’ work will be discussed and their choices examined throughout this process. The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
