Beginners Art Classes Telscombe-Cliffs
Our art courses have been created with the whole range of artists in mind, from beginner to professional. If you are new to painting, starting a new hobby or looking to develop an existing painting practice, our tutors will work with you at your current level. Our Beginner art classes are intentionally kept small and intimate by aiming to cap the class sizes at 10 or 12 to allow you to receive all the direction you need from your tutor. Our Beginner art lessons involve not only individual work, but group work as well. Individual one to one time with your tutor will let you focus on your specific needs while you will also be given the opportunity to collaborate with other students.
Advanced Art Classes Telscombe-Cliffs
Professional artists wanting to gain more experience or depth or focus on the work they already create will find our Advanced art courses in the greater Telscombe-Cliffs area ideal. As practising artists, all of our tutors can give technical support and provide insight into the industry as it stands at the moment. On an Advanced art course you are bound to find yourself in a class of like-minded artists aiming to develop and define their work and challenge their skills and expand their knowledge. Fine Art Courses Telscombe-Cliffs
The New School of Art offers a Fine Art course in the greater Telscombe-Cliffs area for a more general overview of fine art. The tutors provide an introduction to fine art practice, including drawing and painting, to assist students in focusing and critically reflecting on their work. As it is led by professional artists, this programme gives students the opportunity of benefitting from class discussions, workshops and one to one tutorials. On the course students will gain insight into how their course tutor works and at the same time develop their own skills.
Life Drawing Classes Telscombe-Cliffs
Another class we offer in the greater Telscombe-Cliffs area are the Life Drawing classes, which are proving to be a popular choice. We believe rigorous study in drawing is essential to all figurative work, and underpins our philosophy as an Art school. The class entails drawing the life model in a range of different poses. The Life Drawing classes offer an opportunity for artists to explore their creativity and practise their draftsmanship in a focused but supportive environment. Tutors will be on hand to provide guidance and instruction. Regardless of your level of ability, this programme will help develop your skills. Although there is tuition and direction for all students, this class provides a chance to work on your drawing in a more social environment.
Landscape Painting Courses Telscombe-Cliffs
Our Landscape Painting courses in the greater Telscombe-Cliffs area are 2-day workshops led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course. You will concentrate on learning to work dynamically, quickly and freely. Provided there is good weather, students can draw outdoors as they work with pencil and watercolour, focusing on simplification and abstraction before they move indoors and paint in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention. Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting. The group will assess everyone’s work on the second day.
Portrait Painting Telscombe-Cliffs
Also on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters – a 2-day course in the greater Telscombe-Cliffs area. During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work. The first day will be begun with a demonstration by Tim, and then you will create your own small, quick oil sketches which focus on tone, colour and form more than detail. On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail. In order to identify ways in which to create interest and tension in the work, students’ work will be discussed and their choices examined throughout this process. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
