Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, runs our 2 day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Upper Clapton area. This course will introduce you to Louise’s work and painting style. The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Provided there is good weather, students can draw outdoors as they work with pencil and watercolour, focusing on simplification and abstraction before they move indoors and paint in the studio. Students will be encouraged to make several paintings over both days and Louise will be on hand to provide advice and individual tuition.Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration. On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.
Portrait Painting Upper Clapton
Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2 day workshop in the greater Upper Clapton area. During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work. On the first day, after a demonstration by Tim, you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which focus more on tone, colour and form than detail.A large painting will be produced by the students on the second day – again, a work without detail. Students’ work will be discussed throughout this process and their individual choices will be examined, so as to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course will conclude with a one on one assessment of the student’s work.
