Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2 day workshop in the greater Westcombe Park area on Landscape Painting. On this course you will find out more about Louise’s work and her painting style. The emphasis will be on acquiring the skills of working quickly, freely and dynamically. Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio. While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings.Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting. The group will assess everyone’s work on the second day.
Portrait Painting Westcombe Park
Also on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass led by artist Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters – a 2 day course in the greater Westcombe Park area. During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it. The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail.A large painting will be produced by the students on the second day – again, a work without detail. Students’ work and the choices they made during its creation will be discussed and analysed during this process to discover how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course will end with a one on one critique of the student’s work.
