Landscape Painting Courses Westergate
Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2-day workshop in the greater Westergate area on Landscape Painting. On this course you will be introduced to Louise’s work and her painting style. There will be an emphasis on understanding how to work quickly, dynamically and freely. If the weather allows, students will be able to draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour before working on painting in the studio. Students are free to create several paintings over the two days while Louise is on hand to provide advice and individual attention. Students can look at some of Louise’s sketchbooks while their own sketchbooks will be used as reference and for inspiration. On the second day everyone’s work will be critiqued by the group.
Portrait Painting Westergate
Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2-day course in the greater Westergate area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. During the course students will be introduced to the artist, his work and the philosophy behind his work. On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail. The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail. Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
