Landscape Painting Courses Woodgate

We offer 2-day Landscape Painting workshops in the greater Woodgate area which are led by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style. There will be a focus on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Weather permitting, students will draw outside, working on simplifying, abstraction and working with pencil and watercolour, before moving onto painting in the studio. While Louise is available during these two days to give advice and one on one tuition, we encourage students to make several paintings. Some of her sketchbooks will be available to look at and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration to inform your painting. The second day will provide an opportunity for the group to critique each other’s work.

Portrait Painting Woodgate

Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, presents our Portrait Painting Masterclass, a 2-day workshop in the greater Woodgate area. This course will introduce students to the artist as they get to know his work and the philosophy behind it. Tim will start the first day with a demonstration, after which you will go on to make small, quick oil sketches, concentrating not on detail but on form, tone and colour. Students will produce a large painting on the second day, with the added difficulty of not adding detail. A thorough discussion of students’ work and their individual choices throughout this process will lead to an identification of how to create interest and tension in the composition. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
