If you are interested in a more general overview of Fine Art, the New School of Art offers a Fine Art course in the greater Woodmans-Green area. The tutors will help students focus and critically reflect on their work and painting by providing an introduction to fine art practice, including drawing and painting. This programme is taught by professional artists allowing students to be involved in class workshops and discussions, as well as one to one tutorials. During the course, students will be able to develop their skills and understand how their course tutor works.

Landscape Painting Courses Woodmans-Green

Artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club, presents a 2-day workshop in the greater Woodmans-Green area on Landscape Painting. Louise’s work and painting style will be introduced to you on this course. There will be an emphasis on understanding how to work quickly, dynamically and freely. Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio. These two days provide the perfect opportunity for students to create a few paintings, as Louise will be available to give guidance and individual tuition. A number of her sketchbooks will be there for your perusal while your own sketchbooks will be utilized as reference and ideas for your painting. On the second day there will be a group critique of everyone’s work.

Portrait Painting Woodmans-Green

Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2-day course in the greater Woodmans-Green area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. The students will be introduced to the artist on this course, as well as his work and the philosophy behind his work. The first day will start with a demonstration by Tim then you will proceed to create small, quick oil sketches which concentrate on form, tone and colour, rather than detail. The second day will give students the opportunity to create a large painting, again without adding detail. Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. The course finishes with a one on one critique of the work the student has produced.
