The New School of Art also offers a 2 day Landscape Painting course in the greater Yiewsley area, presented by artist Louise Balaam NEAC, member of the New English Art Club. This course will show you Louise’s work and painting style. The focus will be on learning to work freely, quickly and dynamically. Weather permitting, students can choose to work outside, working with pencil and watercolour and working on simplification and abstraction before painting in the studio. Students will be encouraged to make several paintings over both days and Louise will be on hand to provide advice and individual tuition.You will be able to look at a few of her sketchbooks and your own sketchbooks will be used as reference and inspiration for your painting. The group will assess everyone’s work on the second day.
Portrait Painting Yiewsley
Another course on offer is our Portrait Painting Masterclass, which is a 2 day course in the greater Yiewsley area led by Tim Benson VPROI, Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. During this course, students will become familiar with the artist, his work and the philosophy behind it. On the first day, Tim will give a demonstration after which you will create small, quick oil sketches focusing more on form, tone and colour than detail.On the second day students will produce a large painting, again resisting the urge to add detail. Throughout this process, students’ work will be discussed and their individual choices will be scrutinized to identify how to create tension and interest in the composition. At the end of the course, the student’s work will be individually critiqued.
