2 Days | Acrylic | 10am - 4pm | September 20th & 21st 2025 Join Molly Van Amerongen for this engaging and exciting two day course of painting into abstraction. Molly is an Irish artist, living and working in London, who uses oils, acrylic, pigment and collage in her work. Students will be encouraged to start with drawing and develop these drawings into painting or series of expressive marks. Using elements and motifs from the everyday to spark a movement, Molly will encourage students to take creative risks and open up to new approaches to drawing and painting. Each student will be developing drawings from every day memory and imagination into an expressive mark making exercise, letting the sensation lead the mark making. This course encourages a playful approach to working from life and will offer strategies for developing meaningful images. Students will combine observation of their surroundings with inspiration taken from the landscape, props, sound, touch and memory to create something with personal meaning. Memory and imagination will interact. Come and join us for the unforgettable experience. We have a maximum of 10 students. Materials are not included, information will be emailed on booking. 2 Days | 3rd & 4th September 2026 | OILS ‘The tuition was excellent, with lots of new ways of looking and approaches to painting. I learnt a lot which I can use in my own practice’ – Caroline Smith The course will be an exciting opportunity to be tutored by a New English Art Club member and a highly inspirational artist. To start Louise will introduce her work, and outline her way of working. Throughout the course there will be a focus on learning to loosen up, and the importance of working quickly and directly. Students will draw and create studies using oil on paper, concentrating on simplifying impressions and identifying the main visual ideas. We will then begin to work on a painting, or maybe more than one. There will be a critique at lunchtime on the second day. Some of Louise’s own work and sketchbooks, together with information about other relevant artists, will be available as reference and from which to draw inspiration and knowledge.
